Travelling at Christmas Time

I got to catch up with my cousin and family last night, something that we don’t get to do very often, and we got talking travel, which despite the fact that I have 8 half written blog posts, it inspired me to write 2 more, this one and “would we have cruised again? – not all cruise lines are created equal.”
I love Christmas, I mean actually love, our house usually looks like Santa, his elves and his reindeer have thrown up on it and in it, but the past couple of years I’ve lots that Christmas cheer a little, even though we now have kids, but I put it down to the move into a small house and not having any where to put the Christmas decorations on display, or the time to decorate, who knows? But I’m wondering have you ever travelled at Christmas time? I mean travel travelled, not just to go see family and friends, but actually gone on a holiday?

In 2019 one of my sisters and I had a little holiday to Singapore and Bangkok, and while I had heard that Singapore does Christmas well (but what don’t they do well) we were blown away.
Wandering the streets and shopping centres there were little bits of Christmas magic everywhere.
But Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by The Bay was just so magical. We were taken back to our childhood, exploring the wonderland and taking in the Christmas spirit. There was an assortment of food vendors set up in an outdoor food court and a bar so we could enjoy a little Christmas cheer and food, then you also had the spectacular Garden Rhapsody to enjoy as well.

Even Bangkok had quite a number of little Christmas displays out the front of Embassies, and inside and outside of shopping centres.
We both still talk about this and it’s made me even more eager to travel at Christmas time to discover to experience Christmas in other destinations, really who doesn’t have the Christmas Markets in Europe on their bucket list?
In Australia some of the cities put on Christmas activities, like Brisbane with the Enchanted Gardens in the lead up to Christmas, which is worth a look. Victoria Park also has Christmas Putt Putt in December. But nothing seems to compare to the offerings of Christmas magic abroad.
